Menno Simons (1496–1561) was one of the most famous Anabaptists in the modern Netherlands. His followers became known as Mennonites, and still carry on today. Menno began as a Roman Catholic priest, but came to reject Transubstantiation, infant baptism, and all use of force, spurred on by the murder of his brother Pieter, who was already an Anabaptist.
